Natural Ingredients that Can Help You Lose Weight

Friday, February 9, 2018 2:28:18 AM America/New_York

Despite what you may have been lead to believe, you don't have to stop eating all together in order to lose weight. You just need to know what types of things you can be incorporating into your diet and which ones to avoid that will help you to reach the weight you've been trying so hard for. This article will give you several natural, healthy ways to still enjoy a meal while contributing to your weight loss goals all at the same time.

Aim for Antioxidants

You already know antioxidants prevent cancer and disease, but they might also help prevent fat cells from accumulating in the body.

Consume plenty of antioxidant rich ingredients and you'll not only be putting a stop to that pesky fat, but it will protect you from disease and promote heart health at the same time.

Incorporate antioxidants into your daily diet by choosing dark, rich colored berries like blueberries and blackberries. Herbs such as turmeric, oregano, ginger, and cinnamon are all great sources of antioxidants that you can easily (and should) add to your daily diet.

Curry Leaves

Curry leaves are commonly used in India as a weight loss remedy. Curry leaves are said to stimulate digestive enzymes, control blood sugar, and when consumed regularly, can aid in significant weight loss. The leaves can be taken every morning with a glass of water, or used in a tea.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Lime

A combination consisting of two teaspoons of organic Apple Cider Vinegar (preferably with the "mother") and two teaspoons of lime juice drank in the morning can be a powerful remedy to help you shed more weight.

The apple cider and lime combo will also have a positive impact on your health as a whole as both ingredients are known to detoxify the body. Apple cider vinegar improves digestion and regulates blood sugar. The added boost of energy from the apple cider vinegar makes this tangy beverage a perfect energy drink alternative.

To make the taste more palatable, you can add the apple cider and lime to a glass of organic apple juice.

Turmeric

The popular Indian spice turmeric is so chock full of vitamins and health benefits that one could hardly afford not to consume it on a regular basis. Knowing that turmeric can also be used to help reach your weight loss goals makes it that much more irresistible. It will also aid in liver detoxification, which also plays a major role in a weight loss regimen.

Continue using turmeric regularly, even after you've reached your healthy weight will help you to maintain it.

Cayenne

Use cayenne in meals like chili and soups to fight fat and promote health at the time time. Cayenne increases body temperature and aids in speeding up the metabolism. It also has incredible cardiovascular benefits. The added energy boost will make cayenne a must on your list of weight loss ingredients.

Green Tea

Swap your sugar-laden sweet tea with a cup of green tea for a while and reap the rewards of green tea's regulatory effect on fat-metabolism. Green tea will also provide your body with antioxidants, so it's a must when you're looking to lose weight and stay healthy.

Combat Over-Eating with Ashwagandha

The herb ashwagandha has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for years thanks to its powerful anti-stress and relaxation properties. Since many people struggle with the habit of overeating or emotional eating during times of stress, Aswagandha may be a useful herb to use as a means of fighting  the urge to overeat.

Grapefruit

Fruits like grapefruit help regulate insulin and according to researchers eating just half of a grapefruit before all of your meals may help you to shed up to one whole pound a week.

Pears

One study showed that women who ate three pears a day consumed less calories and lost more weight than their counterparts; according to a study. They're also full of fiber that will help keep you feeling full and less likely to overindulge in those unhealthy snacks that always call your name.

Navy Beans

Navy beans are high in protein and considered to be a superfood. These legumes control blood sugar and are known for their "resistant starch" fiber content, which has fat-burning properties and does wonders at helping keep you full.

Eating navy beans in just a single meal daily will cause you to burn 25% more fat than you would otherwise, according to a study done by the University of Colorado.

Almonds

A small handful of almonds eaten daily, on top of a healthy diet may prove useful for those looking to achieve weight loss, according to one diet study that showed participants who ate the crunchy nuts for six months lost 18% of their body fat whereas their counterparts who followed a similar diet -- but instead of almonds, ate an equal number of complex carbs -- and lost just 11% of their body fat.

How to Protect the Heart with Diet and Supplements

Friday, February 9, 2018 2:25:40 AM America/New_York

The typical American lifestyle includes a highly toxic diet and an alarming lack of physical activity -- two things that are critical for heart health. With exercise being something we rarely engage in, the increasing level of inactivity we've become accustomed to is having a negative impact on our health. Many diseases can be attributed to our sedentary lifestyle and toxic diet. In fact, according to reports, 250,000 deaths per year in the United States can be attributed to a lack of regular physical activity.

Movement and at least a decent diet that includes whole foods and supplementation are vital for the health of your heart.

Incorporating the proper diet, exercise, and supplements into your life can be enough to get your heart in healthy shape and prevent your risk factors for disease later on. Continue reading to find out how you can start taking action for your heart health right away.

 Diet

When it comes to heart health, the most important key of all is your diet. You may not be able to change much about genetics, but you can always make changes to your diet that will improve your health and prevent disease.

Experts have been shedding light on the benefits of following a Paleo diet, which includes nutrient-rich foods like animals fats and cholesterol. The Paleo diet reduces the overly processed, refined, toxic-laden foods that most people are consuming on a regular basis. By switching to the Paleo diet, you'll eliminate these harmful foods and allow your body to finally be able to absorb and utilize the nutrients you feed it. Done correctly, this healthy way of eating can also prevent heart disease and help decrease the common issue of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL-P).

For some people who struggle with insulin/leptin resistance, the proper dietary changes can improve the problem. Globally recognized Paleo nutrition leader, Chris Kresser, M.S., L.Ac  says that in order to improve insulin and leptin sensitivity, and decrease LDL-P, he usually recommends a low-carb paleo diet that also promotes weight loss. He suggests incorporating carbohydrates in the form of fruits and starchy vegetables, aiming for a daily amount of between 50-100 grams of these healthy carbs.

Monosaturated Fats

When choosing your meals, try to aim for more monosaturated fats than saturated ones. For example, olives, olive oil, and avocados are all sources of monosaturated fats. These help increase HDL, lower LDL and triglycerides, lower blood pressure, and possibly reduce the occurrence of heart disease.

Be sure to include spices and herbs like garlic into your diet. Not only will it add pleasant  flavor to your meals, but garlic may help lower blood pressure.

Physical Activity

Since exercise helps keep blood pressure under control, promotes healthy weight or weight loss, return of insulin sensitivity, and promotes overall vascular health, it's no surprise that it's one of the best things you can do for your heart health. In fact, exercise alone has been shown to lower LDL particle concentration.

Jumping rope is a favored exercise for its ability target almost every muscle in the body, build strength, endurance, and even lose weight, but it also helps build heart health.

Aerobics is another highly beneficial type of exercise for cardiovascular health.

According to the Jump Rope Institute, just five minutes a day can improve overall physical fitness, but it also reduces your risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and premature death.

Studies have shown that those who are more active tend to develop coronary heart disease less than those who live a more sedentary lifestyle. Often times even people with heart disease can still reap benefits of exercise, like aerobics for example.

Jumping rope is a double-edged sword when it comes to heart health since it keeps you fit and your weight under control --  Just ten minutes of jumping may burn up to 100 calories, and we all know that a healthy weight is important for a healthy heart -- high body fat is a contributor to bad heart health, so by jumping rope, you maintain a healthy weight and --- at the same time.

150 minutes of moderate to intense exercise per week is recommended by The American College of Sports Medicine. So get a dose of childhood fun and start jumping rope.  Jumping jacks are another great exercise if you don't own a jump rope. 10 minute sessions throughout the day make this an easy exercise to stick with.

The US Surgeon General recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily.

Supplements

Omega-3

The omega-3 fatty acids EPA, and DHA, which are found in  cold-water fatty fish can do wonders for cardiovascular health, including preventing plaque from building in your arteries. Omega-3 fatty acids, fish, and fish oil were shown to reduce all-cause mortality and various cardiovascular disease outcomes such as sudden death, cardiac death, and myocardial infarction, according to the National Institutes of Health.

CoQ10

Since oxidative damage is a contributing factor in heart disease, it's important to include antioxidants into your diet. Organ and red meats are rich sources of the powerful antioxidant CoQ10.

Supplementing with CoQ10 is also a way you can be sure to get plenty of it.

CoQ10 may also lower blood pressure even without medication, although studies have shown that people who combine heart failure medications alongside this supplement often feel better day to day. It's also been said that taking a CoQ10 supplement can help counteract the negative side effects of the cholesterol lowering statin drugs.

If you choose to use a CoQ10 supplement, aim for one that includes black pepper (piperine) in the ingredients as it helps with proper absorption.

By incorporating the tools listed here into your daily life, you can begin working your way to a healthy, well-protected heart.

How A Cheap Cooking Ingredient can Save You from Inflammation

Friday, February 9, 2018 2:22:33 AM America/New_York

Did you know that cancer, heart disease, dental problems, asthma, migraines, thyroid problems, and even allergies can be caused by chronic inflammation in the body? If you suffer from these conditions, it's possible that your problems are inflammation related. Inflammation, especially if it's chronic, is a serious problem. It's even been labelled the "secret killer" by some magazines.

Inflammation actually serves a purpose. For instance, when we are injured, our bodies use inflammation as its natural defense mechanism. It's only when our inflammation levels get out of control that the problems begin.

Inflammation can be caused by stress, trauma, leaky gut syndrome, poor diet and poor sleeping habits, consuming too much refined flour or sugar, and more. Excessive inflammation can often be associated with almost every chronic disease out there, according to some healthcare experts.

The good news is that you can drastically improve these health problems and decrease the pain and inflammation in your body by using a simple, affordable spice that's used often as a cooking ingredient -- turmeric. To put it simply, turmeric works to combat inflammation by lowering the levels of two specific, inflammation-causing enzymes in the body. When inflammation is present, it causes a wide variety of pains and aches, and if left without treatment, it becomes chronic and can begin to affect many different areas of the body.

Turmeric also contains a potent antioxidant -- called curcumin -- that protects your body from free radicals, which are infamous for the destruction they wreak on our tissue, organs, and cells. Regularly consuming a strong antioxidant like turmeric is vital for helping fight off these little buggers, and in turn preventing yourself from inflammation and disease. In fact, turmeric has been a staple in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat a wide array of health ailments.

If you want to enjoy a multitude of health benefits and naturally fight off the inflammation that's keeping you from living the life you want, then you'll want to start including this golden yellow spice in your meals on a regular basis.

Research has shown us that turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory that has the ability to reduce pain and swelling by blocking inflammatory pathways. Aside from this, it also packs antibacterial properties. Research suggests turmeric can be a powerful preventative tool against periodontal diseases. In other research turmeric has shown to lower blood pressure and even have protective effects against certain cancers such as melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer cells.

The vibrant yellow spice is said to be about eight times more potent than Vitamin E and even stronger than Vitamin C, making it an ideal source of antioxidants.

Turmeric's health benefits are numerous, but to name a few, it can help support your liver health, immune system, and bone and joint health. Turmeric improves digestion and can provide benefits to your skin. It may even help arm you against type II diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers, Crohn's disease, cataracts, gallstones, psoriasis, and many more painful health problems.

Turmeric is easy to consume as it can be taken in a capsule form as a daily supplement or simply added to your meals. You can use turmeric to add a blast of flavor to simple everyday dishes. It's often used for its peppery spice in curry and other dishes like chili, broths, stews, and soups. Turmeric can also be enjoyed along with eggs and rice dishes and it goes great with tofu as well. If you're more of a smoothie or tea kind of person, you may want to try adding a pinch of turmeric to a ginger tea or a green smoothie. Another way to get your daily dose of turmeric is by sprinkling some onto your salads.

Keep in mind that it is believed that heat may destroy the potency of turmeric's active ingredients and potent antioxidant properties. So be careful not to cook it, but instead simply sprinkle and mix the rich, yellow goodness into your dishes after they've been cooked.

Secondly, you'll want to be sure you're using organic turmeric to avoid harmful pesticides often found in non-organic herbs and spices.

To receive turmeric's full benefits, the typical recommendation is to use organic turmeric extract with at least 95% curcuminoids. This is usually mentioned on the product label.

To ensure proper absorption of the turmeric and all its benefits, measure out a teaspoon of turmeric and a teaspoon of coconut oil along with one to two egg yolks and blended together. You can then eat the mixture straight or mix it into any dish you like. Black pepper improves turmeric's bioavailability and can also be taken along side turmeric to help increase its absorption.

Give your stiff, achy, inflamed body a break this fall by incorporating turmeric into your diet to start reaping the benefits before the often stressful Holidays arrive.

Why Vitamin D is The Master Supplement

Friday, February 9, 2018 2:19:21 AM America/New_York

It's the Vitamin that experts say is the most important of all. It can regulate your hormone levels, control your blood pressure, prevent cancer and heart disease, and even ease symptoms of depression. Sometimes a deficiency in this vitamin is precisely the cause depression in the first place, for some.

That's right. Getting enough Vitamin D does far more for your body than just build your bones. While it is crucial for proper bone health, Vitamin D can also alleviate inflammation, will help you maintain a healthy colon, prostate, metabolism, thyroid, adrenal glands, and breasts. Adequate Vitamin D intake is vital for proper brain development and your sleep will also improve as you continue to consume the proper amounts of Vitamin D on a regular basis. We guarantee taking your Vitamin D will prove to be worth it after you read the benefits it has to offer.

Enhances and Strengthens Your Immune System

Many doctors say that Vitamin D is one of the best ways to enhance your immune system, keeping you from being hit with many common illnesses like the flu and colds. It also helps increase natural antibiotics within the body, so if you are struck with the dreadful cold or flu, proper Vitamin D intake will help arm your body with what it needs most fight it off quickly.

Gives You Hormonal Harmony

Hormonal imbalances are a common cause for the many health complications, including mood problems and Vitamin D is a pro-hormone responsible for hormonal balance. Since proper Vitamin D intake affects monoamines such as serotonin and dopamine levels, meaning one major benefit of this can be improvements in your mood.

Helps Improve Mental Health and Relieve Depression Symptoms

While the research into the link between depression and Vitamin D is still very new, it seems to have shown that for some cases, Vitamin D intake (or increased intake) can help ease the symptoms one suffers from when they're depressed. While not all cases of depression can be chalked up to being the result of a Vitamin D deficient person, it's definitely worthy of acknowledgement.

Symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder can often be chalked up to a Vitamin D deficiency in many people since a major cause of Seasonal Depression is insufficient exposure to sunlight. So getting enough direct sunlight daily (10 - 15 minutes is typically recommended for most people) and making sure your Vitamin D intake is correct can make all the difference in the world when you're struggling through these cold months.

Lowers Your Risk of Diabetes:

Diabetes is a sure sign of a deficiency in Vitamin D and some research has hinted that younger people with higher levels of Vitamin D seemed less likely to develop type II diabetes later in life. There has also been some evidence that Vitamin D can help improve the problems and symptoms associated with having type II diabetes.

So how much Vitamin D Do You Need in Order to

It's been said by many healthcare professionals that most Americans are deficient in Vitamin D, but it's important to know for certain and to know what your vitamin D levels actually are. This is done through a blood test performed by your doctor. However, experts say the typical recommended amount of Vitamin D storage levels should be around should be around 50 and below 30 is considered a Vitamin D deficiency. Those with certain diseases and health problems such as metabolic disorders, kidney, liver, and gastrointestinal problems are likely to be at risk of being deficient in Vitamin D.

As your doctor will probably tell you, the best source of Vitamin D you can get is from the sun. It's much easier, quicker, and cheaper supplementing, which normally doesn't include your required amount. 10 - 15 minutes of direct sunlight is recommended. According to Dr. Oz 15, minutes of sunlight will deliver 10,000 units of Vitamin D to your body.

Cod liver oil, wild salmon, and sardines are other excellent sources of Vitamin D as are trout, caviar, egg yolks, and portabello mushrooms.

Keep in mind that the type of Vitamin D supplement you take is important too. Healthcare experts recommend taking Vitamin D3 and the typical recommended amount for most adults is 2,000 - 5,000 IU. Severe deficiencies or additional health problems may require additional amounts, so it's important to find your proper amount with the help of a trusted doctor or professional.

You'll also want to make sure you take your daily Vitamin D along with a source of healthy, monosaturated fat for actual absorption. These healthy fats include coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oil, to name a few.

So if you're going to be lazy about any of your necessary vitamin supplements, don't let Vitamin D be the one you put on the back burner. Now, go soak up some sun.

This Simple One-Day Diet Will Cleanse Your Body and Help You Lose Weight

Friday, February 9, 2018 2:16:25 AM America/New_York

Excessive bloating, extra weight that just won't go away, headaches, fatigue, sluggish digestion, and stomach discomfort. These are all common signs of a body in need of a detoxification.

If extra weight has you stressed, then chances are, you'll benefit from detoxing. Also if you're about to begin dieting, then the best way to start off is by using the following daily detoxification rituals to help jump start the weight loss process and improve your body's functionality so that it can respond properly to your new diet and allow you the results you're hoping for.

A full inner body cleanse is the best way for you to achieve quick weight loss as it'll remove toxins and waste build-up from your body. On top of that, cleansing will also provide a positive boost to your entire health.

Let's go over the most powerful, yet simple remedies that will help you shed weight, detoxify your body, improve your health, and revitalize your energy -- all at home and in a single day.

Start by drinking warm citrus and cayenne juice first thing in the morning

This warm juice will stimulate the digestive tract and trigger the detoxification process that'll help you shed some quick weight since cayenne helps burn fat.

Since lemon has powerful detoxification properties -- including flushing the liver of toxins so it can work properly -- you'll be jump starting your way to better health one sip at a time.

Add two tablespoons of lemon juice to a glass of warm water along with a pinch of both black and cayenne pepper to boost your metabolism, and a half a teaspoon of sea salt, for its laxative effect.

Cayenne and black pepper both help burn fat, so include both if you can. Cayenne should be eaten three times daily, so if you aren't drinking the mixture throughout the day, include cayenne in your meals instead.

Drink the mixture throughout the day, and aim for light, healthy, and nutritious meals the rest of the day.

Try Dandelion for its Cleansing Effects

The dandelion plant has powerful weight loss and cleansing properties that shouldn't be overlooked it you're taking on any detoxification regimen. The roots and leaves can be made into a tea or the leafy greens can be eaten alone. The numerous benefits of consuming dandelion include reduced water retention.

If you're making dandelion tea, go the extra mile and add peppermint. Studies show that just the smell alone will help decrease your appetite. The weight loss, digestive soothing, appetite-reducing, and toxin-removal properties also make peppermint totally worthy of adding to your detox.

Since the liver plays the role of cleansing toxins from your body, any good detoxification diet should include some focus on cleansing the liver.

Milk thistle is another extremely powerful liver cleanser that can be added to your diet. It can even improve liver damage when used regularly.

Hibiscus Tea to Keep the Fat Away

Have a cup of hibiscus tea to boost your weight loss results and provide your liver with extra protection at the same time. Research shows it may prevent fatty liver (non-alcholoic version) as well as improve fatty liver problems. Research has also suggested that hibiscus extract may have the ability to inhibit obesity, so consuming it on a regular basis can help keep the weight off.

When mid-morning hunger strikes, have a green smoothie

Try to stick with fiber-rich fruits and vegetables, whole grains for the carbs you'll need to replenish your energy, beans, and lean proteins such as turkey breast, chicken, or wild salmon. If using fats, stick with healthy ones such as olive oil, coconut oil or fish oil.

You can also include carrots and beets to help increase liver function. To keep from over-indulging, have a green smoothie using plenty of healthy, leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach, and wheatgrass for extra health and detoxification benefits. You can also include broccoli and cabbage to flush carcinogens from your liver and help keep you full.

Include Apples for A Clean Digestive System

When build up and toxins are cleansed from your digestive system, weight loss is often the first effect one notices. Eat an apple in place of a midnight snack. Not only will an apple help keep down those sugar cravings while you detox, but the pectin in apples will help flush toxins from your digestive system.

Speed Your Metabolism with Cloves

Include cloves in one of your meals -- for example, alongside wild salmon for lunch -- to speed your metabolism and burn even more calories.

If you need help keeping your appetite from raging out of control during your detox, include cinnamon and ginger into your diet. Both can be added to a cup of boiling water and drank as a tea, or you can toss a pinch of each into one of the detox teas listed above. Cinnamon and ginger will reduce your appetite and keep cravings at bay. Even after your day of detox, you should incorporate cinnamon into your daily diet to keep fat from being stored, and for its high nutritional profile.

Don't forget to stay hydrated. Most detox regimens suggest two to four liters of water daily.

Do you suffer from fatigue, insomnia, problems losing weight, and skin issues? Do you feel drained of energy for no explainable reason? These symptoms can all be attributed to an unhealthy liver.

Your liver performs over 500 functions daily, yet it's often one of the most ignored organs in the human body. Just this year Loyola University Health System researchers found that more people have liver cancer than previously thought.

With the average American lifestyle being full of harmful toxins, the liver has trouble removing them. Many of today's common health problems are a result of the posions forced to remain inside your organs -- including the brain and blood -- because the liver can't do its job. The results can be disastrous, leaving you with one health problem on top of another.

Cleansing your liver should be a vital part of your health regimen if you want to reclaim your health, vitality, and energy. Doing so will clear up many common ailments, decrease your risks of getting liver cancer, and improve your liver's ability to function.

The good news is you don't have to go to the doctor and spend hundreds of dollars for a pill that only masks the problems caused by your toxic liver. You can perform your own simple liver cleanse at home using any of the following home remedies.

 1. Dandelion Tea

A tea made from the dandelion roots, taken 3-4 times daily cleanses the liver, colon, and gallbladder with its diuretic properties while also neutralizing heavy metals.

2. Green Tea

Don't underestimate the power of green tea. Not only will it protect your liver from damage, but its strong antioxidant properties have been shown to promote proper liver function and eliminate the accumulation of fat in the liver. Drink a cup daily, using fresh organic leaves.

 3. Olive Oil and Citrus Juice

A mixture made from one tablespoon of organic olive oil and the juice of half a lemon combined with the juice of two grapefruits is an easy, inexpensive remedy that flushes the liver, colon, and gallbladder.

4. Epsom Salt and Grapefruit Juice

Four tablespoons of Epsom salt combined with three cups of grapefruit juice is another powerful cleanser. Divide the mixture and take four times daily.

5. Cayenne and Lemon

A mixture of three ounces of lemon juice, 24 ounces of warm water, 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and a teaspoon of honey taken in the morning before breakfast is an instant liver cleanser.

6. Barley Water

Barley water purifies and removes toxins from the liver and blood. Boil one cup of barley in three liters of water for three hours and drink it throughout the day.

7. An Avocado A Day

Here's your excuse to indulge in delicious guacamole. Research shows that eating one - two avocados weekly for just a one month period can repair liver damage.

8. A Teaspoon of Turmeric Daily

Turmeric regenerates damaged liver cells, protects against toxic damage, and helps in the overall maintenance of a healthy liver and gallbladder. Circumin, which is found in turmeric, prevents the development of cirrhosis. Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder (or two teaspoons of fresh, grated turmeric) with warm water twice daily is recommended. Add black pepper for better absorption.

9. Consume Garlic Daily

Garlic is a potent antioxidant that activates detoxification. Consume the cloves raw to flush the liver and protect it from damage. The World Health Organization recommends 2 - 5 grams daily.

10. Ginger

The Importance of Vitamin D and why we are lacking it.

Tuesday, February 6, 2018 5:37:02 AM America/New_York

Vitamin D deficiency is fairly common in the United States. Even if you eat foods that are rich in vitamin D, generally they don’t have enough of the vitamin to benefit your health.  Let’s start at the beginning, vitamin D isn’t the same type of vitamin as A or B, it acts quite differently. It’s a specific type of steroid hormone. Naturally, our bodies obtain vitamin D from the sun. It’s always important to get at least 20 minutes of sun exposure a day, but too much is risky.

Vitamin D deficiency threatens all types of people of all skin types and ages. This deficiency is so common that chances are you are most likely lacking vitamin D. Some signs that you may be vitamin D deficient are often feeling sad, being 50 years old or older, having naturally darker skin, being overweight, having higher muscle mass, achey bones, frequent head sweats and gut trouble.

Serotonin is a hormone that effects mood levels. It has a direct relationship to light, for example, when you are in bright light, the serotonin in your body increases feeding your brain with the hormone and positively effecting your mood. When you are in dim light, it decreases. So naturally, being in the sun and getting vitamin D helps control mood levels and keep you positive.

With age comes more health problems. So it’s important to take care of your body. When you hit your fifties, your skin slows in response to soaking up vitamin D from the sun. An easy fix for this is to take vitamin D supplements.

African Americans or other people who have naturally darker skin are ten times more likely to have vitamin D deficiency than someone with pale skin. Having darker skin, acts as a natural sunblock from UV rays, so naturally it’s harder to absorb the vitamin you need.

People who are overweight or have more muscle mass are also at a higher risk for vitamin D deficiency. This is because vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. This also translates into people with more muscle mass and higher body weights. So taking an additional vitamin D supplement will help get the extra nutrients for your diet.

Achey bones, fatigue and head sweating are all common symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. Sweating heads can be found in newborn babies who don’t have enough vitamin D.  If this happens in your child or baby, be sure to talk to a doctor as soon as possible.

Lastly, because vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, your body struggles with the absorption of fats. Vitamin D deficiency has shown a direct relationship with gut conditions like Crohn’s, celiac and non-celiac, gluten sensitivity and inflammatory bowel disease.

Our bodies need high levels of vitamin D to function correctly. It’s important to aim for higher amounts of vitamin D in the body, than the average amount because vitamin D deficiency is still a recent discussion in the medical world. If you aim for higher amounts of vitamin D, you will be working towards the goal that doctors are recently discovering is the healthiest amount.

The ways to obtain vitamin D is through the sun, vitamin D rich foods and dietary supplements. Some of the most common foods with vitamin D are cod liver oil, salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines, raw milk, chocolate milk, eggs, caviar, mushrooms, deli ham, sushi, tofu, swiss and ricotta cheese, soy milk, salami, sausage, oysters, orange juice, oatmeal and shrimp. But, because many of these foods don’t contain enough vitamin D to be therapeutic it’s important to take vitamin D supplements also.

Among helping any of the symptoms above, vitamin D also fights cardiovascular disease, autoimmune diseases, infections, DNA repair and metabolic processes. Just remember, vitamin D deficiency is fairly new territory for the medical field, doctors nationwide are adjusting their thoughts about vitamin D and realizing the importance of it in our diet to keep us healthy. So remember, include a vitamin D supplement in your daily routine and you'll experience the world through a different light.

Most Effective Supplements and Lifestyle for Good Heart Health

Tuesday, February 6, 2018 5:34:09 AM America/New_York

One in every four deaths that occur in the United States are due to cardiovascular disease, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That means over 600,000 people die of a heart-related disease a year. Heart attacks occur in 735,000 people each year, killing over 370,000 Americans and over 200,000 of them are people who have already had heart attacks previously.

Those numbers alone are over a million reasons why you should take care of your heart. If it’s not for your kids or your family, take care of your heart to bring those numbers down. Cardiovascular health is vital to a healthy life and that’s why we are giving you the best lifestyle and supplements to improve your cardiovascular health.

Improving your cardiovascular health isn’t something that will change with one healthy meal. It will change with making healthy choices a pattern and priority for the rest of your life. According to the American Heart Association, the best way to change your lifestyle in favor of your heart health is simple. The American Heart Association suggests; using as many calories as you take in, eating a variety of nutritious foods, eating less of nutrient-poor foods, refrain from smoking tobacco and avoid secondhand smoke.

It’s important to use as many calories as you take in during the day because it will help maintain your weight and keep the extra pounds off. First it is important to determine how many calories you should be eating based on your height, age and lifestyle. Then keep a food and calorie log of your daily meal intake. If you’re at a healthy weight and would not like to gain weight, don’t increase your daily calorie intake. The important part is to do enough exercise to burn the calories consumed during the day. An easy way to do this is to increase the intensity of your daily exercises or aim for 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week.

Nutrient-rich foods have the best vitamins and minerals for your body. It’s important to eat food from all the food groups to make sure your body has all the nutrients it needs. The more colors in your meal, the better. Focus on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, skinless poultry and fish, nuts and legumes and non-tropical vegetable oils.

Junk foods are an easy way to reach calorie intake, but they severely lack nutrients and are loaded with saturated fats. It is important to steer clear of these types of foods and reach calorie goals by eating the suggested foods above. Like junk food, smoking does nothing for your health, but worsen it. The American Heart Association lists a more detailed guide of recommend foods and serving sizes on their website.

After adjusting your lifestyle and becoming more heart conscious you can aid your heart health with some specific supplements including magnesium, fish oil omega 3 fatty acid, coenzyme Q-10, garlic, red yeast rice extract, niacin, vitamin D and Natto K.

According to Green Med. Info Research Empowered, magnesium deficiency is the root to diabetes and many heart disease and problems. Often times, low magnesium goes undetected by doctors unless they are specifically looking for it. Taking a magnesium supplement would have a high impact on heart health, muscle pains, neurological disorders, vision spells, skin and bladder infections, extreme thirst and hunger, abnormal heart rhythms, fatigue, weakness in bones and more. This is a good supplement to take and can help improve day to day living.

Omega 3 fatty acids decrease the risk of abnormal heart rhythms, decrease triglyceride levels and lower blood pressure. Fish oil is a commonly consumed dietary supplement that has many additional health benefits.

The other heart healthy supplements include benefits such as lowering blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, raising good cholesterol, lowering chance of diabetes and obesity risk, decreases chance of heart attacks, decreases risk of stroke, decreases risk of hardening arteries, reduces blood clots and improving blood viscosity.

It is easy to find an excuse not to take care of your body, it might be because you’re tired or you had a long day or maybe it’s too expensive. Here, we offer you an inexpensive and easy way to care for your heart so you can be around for your family and teach them to take care of themselves too. As a recap, remember eat healthier, burn as many calories as you take in and choose some supplements to supercharge your heart health.

Healthy Diet vs. Dietary Supplements

Tuesday, February 6, 2018 5:22:57 AM America/New_York

You eat clean, you exercise daily, but are you reaching the recommend daily intake of vitamins and minerals? What if, all your hard work isn’t enough to do that? Well it might not be, but not because your hard work isn’t counting for anything, it’s just sometimes our bodies need a little extra push. So does that mean you should be taking dietary supplements daily, too? According to the Mayo Clinic, it is important to get your primary nutrition from your diet. In other words, you can’t trade in your green smoothie for cheese fries if you are taking dietary supplements. While dietary supplements offer the nutrition you may be lacking from your diet, they can’t replicate all the benefits of getting those vitamins and minerals from a whole food source. If you aren’t eating the greatest, the expense of supplements might be worth the investment, but we recommend changing your diet first to give your body the nutrients it needs.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, supplements are quite a bit different from medications. Instead, they are generally vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, enzymes, botanicals, concentrates, extracts, etc. They can be found at local grocery stores or smaller private companies such as Green Organic Supplements. The majority of adults in the United States take one or more dietary supplements daily. Generally, supplements consist of dietary ingredients placed in a tablet, capsule, liquid, powder and more, for nutritional value. Some are taken to ensure you meet your daily intake of vitamins and minerals and others can be taken to reduce the risk of certain diseases. This all sounds wonderful, so why can’t you eat the cheese fries and just take your supplements?

Well it’s not quite as simple, it’s actually complex, because whole foods are complex. They offer a variety of micronutrients which work together to give the body multiple beneficial properties, while supplements generally only offer one. Remember, one is better than none. Let’s say you go to the doctor and they say you’re in good health, but you could use more vitamin B in your diet. You could add a vitamin B supplement to your routine and you would be in good shape. But, if the doctor says you’re low in multiple vitamins and minerals, we would suggest changing your diet first and if you still need a little extra push, add some supplements.

Phytochemicals are also present in whole foods, which fight against cancer, heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure according to the Mayo Clinic. These are not present in supplements, so it is important to remember supplements are not a substitute for a good diet.

Many supplements can be found in natural and organic variations. The term “natural” doesn’t always mean it is safe, so it is important to do your research and look for supplements that are crafted without fillers and in safe environments. Remember, living healthy and meeting suggested daily vitamin intakes are challenging and expensive. Many of us think we are being healthy, but actually come up shy of recommended servings. Many times people aren’t eating enough of the right foods or doing the exercises their bodies need them to do. That’s why companies like Green Organic Supplements offer a solution with safe and natural dietary supplements that are made personally for you, order by order. At this company, they focus on supplements that use the essential vitamins and minerals from whole foods. This is the perfect solution to help you reach your daily intake goals and/or other medical conditions you may be struggling with.

Supplements will also be beneficial for:

- Woman who may become pregnant (400 micrograms folic acid)

- Woman who are pregnant (prenatal vitamin including iron)

- Adults age 50+ (vitamin B-12)

- Adults age 65+ living alone (800 IU of vitamin D)

- People who don’t eat well

- People who consume less than 1,600 calories a day

- Vegans and vegetarians

- People who don't eat a variety of foods

- People who don’t eat fish 2 to 3 times a week (Fish oil)

- Woman who experience heavy bleeding during menstrual cycle

- People with medical conditions that affect your body’s nutrient absorption

- People with food allergies/intolerances

- People who have had surgery on digestive tract
